My friend wants me to go with him to check out a 90 V6 Camaro and I am wondering if there is anything in particular I should look for that could be future problems.
As far as I know it has a 3.1L engine, are there any reoccuring problems with the 3.1's?
The car has around 180,000 miles on it, and I think the transmission has been rebuilt. The seller is asking like $700, is that a reasonable price?

well id mainly check for any sort of half ass work the previous owner might have down , get in it and check to make sure that EVERYTHING Works , crawl under it to see what kinda condition the under body is in , maybe check the fluids , your prolly not gunna like the v6 , if its power your after , just get the 350

There is one big problem with the 3.1... it's slow :P I dunno, check all teh normal things you'd check on a car.

Well, the car isn't for me so I just have to make sure it is in decent condition.
Oh, and 97RS, thank you so much for your wonderful advice, what would I have done without it??? J/k
Thanks for the replies.

for that price, its worth it just to buy and then put some money into fixing it.
thats what im in the process of doing right now with my '92 RS
i got it from my friends impound yard for $200 and it was complete crap.
i just finished putting some serious TLC (and about $500) into it and i should have it running by the end of the night.
just make sure its CAPABLE of running. and hell, if its already running, youve got it better than me, tell your bud to go for it.

Are all the V6 camaros from 1990 RS's? I was looking up some specs for them and they don't list a coupe, just an RS and the Z28, Just wondering.

RS is the base model. all of them are RS's. As long as everything checks out,
-no white stuff in the oil (check the underside of the oil cap too)
-no knocking or pinging noises coming from the engine when you accelerate hard
-no major body work needed
-transmission shifts well, doesn't take more than 1 sec. to shift from park to any other gear
-if it has t-tops, expect to be replacing the seals, cause it will leak.
You can probably expect all the normal wear and tear stuff... like worn brakes, shocks and the headliner coming down on the inside. If all that checks out, I'd say buy it. There are no typical problems with this car other than it being slow and the t-tops leaking.

also, be supsicious about anything that looks brand new under the hood. this could tell you about problems that they have had with the car before. then ask them if there's anything that needs to be done to it.

Well, I'm not going to look at it for a few days at least so more input will be appreciated...

I'm assuming it's the fabric on the roof of a car. I know I see quite a few older cars with them either hanging down, pinned/stapled up, or just ripped out.
