Is there ne where to get a ring compressor for a 4cyl. engine? i went to autozone and they gave me some half assed shitty thing that won't fit into the cyl. walls. ne one know how i can do it another way? im freaking damn pissed cuz i wasted 3hrs fucking with that thing trying to get it to work, it like over laps with its self and wont' fit at all, its made for a v8 or something.

should be something like this. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=11809&group_ID=1593&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
I assume your trying to put the pistons back in the block right?

by the way, the ring compressor is not supposed to go down into the cylinder AT ALL!!! it's only ment to compress the rings into the piston so u can slide the piston w/ rings into the cylinder. it's supposed to have ridges or little nubs outward that go against the top of the block to keep it from sliding into the cylinder. the piston is then tapped down into the cylinder all the while sliding down and out of the ring compressor. the ring compressor will kind of pop off as the piston clears the bottom of it and is fully in the cylinder. i hope u didn't jam the ring compressor down into the cylinder like it sounded like u were trying to do. that'll mean one, or both, of two things; u scratched the crap out of the clyinder wall, u have way too much piston-to-cylinder wall clearance. either way u'll be redoing the job if u did it that way.
