I am ready to order a motor for my 1996 240sx, was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with ordering skyline motors or front clip of the RB26DETT, and how available are parts going to be here in the states?

P.S. No, i am not going to go SR20DET or any other motor. Yes, i know it is going to be expensive, but i am going to do it. Yes, i do have a little over $10,000 ready to do the swap i just need more info on where to get the motor or the whole front clip.

I have some friends in the business... I can basically get you any clip you need.

But dude... RB26DETT in an S14? Are you sure you want to take on this project? Because you would have to have the RB26DETT engine, bolted up to a RB25DET's transmission, custom drive shaft, on a RB25DET's rear differential.

Lets not forget the custom EFI wiring, custom mounting, custom piping... God I dont even want to think about it.

Lets not forget you'll be putting an OBDI powertrain into an OBDII Compliant car... So it you'll be running into problems man.

... Sounds like a tough project dude, but if your up for it... I'll help you out.

OK. probably the one and only thing that could make me change my mind has happened, my friend who owns a shop and does swaps all the time has told me that he will install a RB25 for free, but i will have to pay for the RB26 (and pay a lot). So given the free install i am going to go RB25 so i can spend more on mods to get the power i want!!! :iceslolan

P.S. But i will still need to know where i should get the clip and how avaliable stock and aftermarket parts are going to be.

there is almost no aftermarket support for RB series motors in the US. they arent that common, and really shops dont need to back the product in a company where 1.) the engine isnt common or 2.) the engine isnt even available. the sr20det is another story. theres tons of SR aftermarket support here in the US for the sr20.

I understand the lack of support and quantity in the US (which is why i want the motor in the first place) but i guess in specific, am i going to be able to get parts from the UK, Japan, or anywhere else?

The car is going to be drag only for about 8 months to a year then will go show and drag. I have a couple of local sponsors already lined up so this isn't going to be as much of a drain on my pocket as originally expected. I have a shop installing motor for the cost of me displaying their stickers and a tire and wheel shop with a major discount for the same sticker deal.
