anyone have this problem? doesn't do it all the time... in fact it does it on such an irregular basis that i can't even figure out what is happening... checked fuses and whatnot but can't get er, mind you i know very little about the electronic side of my truck ... any ideas?

Yes, itīs a cold solder inside the dash, some people had it in the trip reset switch, I had it way inside the small board that has the display mounted to it. It will get progressively worse until they donīt turn on at all. You can get a new dash or, like me, unsolder the whole thing apart looking for the cold joint. It hasnīt failed since I put it back together, but you never know, my pulse isnīt as good as a solder reflow station (then again, maybe it is).

what level of "do it your self" are we looking at in pulling the dash and doing some re-soldering? i'm not that bad at soldering... well i odn't think i am... and if i have the dash/guage cluster out is it a good idea to pull that clear plastic cover off the guage cluster? thinkin about spiffin it up a bit (guage cluster).

I called GM they know of nothing either YET! Mine is doing the same, wher can I get a cluster or what i need with out a mint of money??
