'99 Ford Escort Zx2 Tension Setting?

I just changed the alternator and replaced serpentine belt in '99 Ford Escort Zx2 w/DOHC. Once I have put the new belt on, do I need to loosen the nut on the idler pully on the tensioner or should the nut be tight?
