A/T vs. M/T

I have recently purchased a 2001 Chevy S10 ZR2 and need to get new tires. My only experience with off-road tires are when I owned a '97 Explorer and had 31/10.5/15 Wild Country TXRs. I also had them siped. I really liked these tires both on the pavement and off. I live near the mountains and don't want to do any SERIOUS 4x4-ing, but I love to explore and test (test really means push) my limits. And in the winter where I live we might get anywhere between an inch to a foot of snow.

Anyway, I really love the reviews for the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO and the Firestone Destination M/T. And since I can get the Wild Country TXR locally at Les Schwab, this is also an option. I guess my questions are, 1) M/T or A/T? Will the A/T be aggressive enough to play in the mountains? Its main appeal is the tread life and the awesome reviews. 2) If I decide on M/T, should I stick with the TXR because I was happy with them before, or would I be even happier with the Destination?

Any input would be appreciated!

I'd say go with what you know works. If you get the other ones and they do work well, then great. But if you get them and they suck, then you're stuck with them for the life of the tire (which, for an offroad tire, could be a long long time).

I researched tires for about 1 month before I finally bought. I put the Firestone Destination's on my wife's Rodeo 4WD, I couldn't be more pleased. During the winter we had about 4-6 inches of snow and ice, the tires performed great. As far as driving in the rain, again you couldn't ask for a better tire. I liked them so much I bought another set and put on my 1999 Ford F-150 Lariat, I push them much harder in this veh. On the clover leafs getting on and off the interstate I can tell a huge difference the cornering is GREAT!!!! I'm glad I bought them I think you will be too.
