Hello, I am in the somewhat near future going to drop a 2jz-gte into my tacoma. Now, my question is, what is a good type of turbo to upgrade to? I was thinking a t78, but I again am not sure having never dealed with a supra, or boost at all. I am looking to keep it on pump gas, so well I dont want to be runnin twin t78s with 30 lbs. I was hoping to be pushing around 500 hp. I was told by several people that the 2jz was a very good engine and is quite easy to modify in the sence that money - hp ratio is remotly cheep. By upgrading the turbos alone I was told that I could produce around 500 hp, and that is kind of a goal, ofcorse I will be wanting more, but for right now 500 in a 2500 lb truck that came stock with 130 whp, it should suit me for a bit. I may also would not like to much lag, I still want some so that I am not spinin tires to to much from a stop.... but I dont want it spooling 2 grand short of redline either. Also, is there a particular place or person that you all buy your perfomance mods/engines/driveterain from? thanks in advance.

im pretty sure that t78s are quite large turbos that will create tubo lag... im not quite sure if thats what you want with the whole 'wanting to spin or not wanting to spin tires' remark but you will be flying at high rpms.
what kind of tacoma is it; 2wd or 4wd and what purpose will it be surving?

Here's the problem, going to a single turbo setup on those cars is worth it but expensive too. The tranny will most likely have to be rebuilt to hold the boost unless your running a th400 tranny. The fuel system might want to go a little higher to compensate for whatever ammount of boost you want to run and past that. Other than that, you should be good to go. I'll re-post if something comes to mind.
