Unable to start (turn over the ignition key)

I am unable to start my laguna'97. Happend already 2 times but it looks if I wait for 30 minutes then I am able to turn over the key. But now it passed a day and still unable to start it. I think it is related to the fact that I steered before switching the ignition on.

Any ideas?

what happends when you try to start it?i.e do any lights come on on the dash,do you hear the engine trying to turn over as normal?
it will no doubt have an immobiliser and a light for it on the dash most likely a flashing red one,the red light should go of after a second or two of turning the key,does it?

The problem is that I can't turn over the key at all !!! I still can't believe. I think is related to the locking that occurs 10 seconds arfter removing the key from the ignition key. The steering is locked and probably is locked the inition switch as well. Is like I have a wrong key.
Doggy decoder ring? I have no idea.

ok so the key goes into the ignition barrel fully but feels like its locked.and the steering is locked.
i don't mean to sound patronising but i don't want to miss anything out,have you tried moving the steering wheel with the little bit of play you will have while trying to turn the key?

I have not done that but something similar though.
Yesterday I was so pissed of so I turn the locked steering wheel as much as I could. After turning it beyond a certain point I gave up but surprise, I was able turn over the key again !

Do you know what happend? Is that something common? :)

their will be a steering lock on it,its a kind of anti theft device an safety device,it will operate if when you turn the steering wheel with the key out more than about one thrid of a turn.
