My exhaust backfires on shifts and when slowing down, plus its louder than hell. My question is what should i do? Should i put on a cat or a resonater, or something else? I want something that will not sacrifice power, but tone down my exhaust and stop the bang bang.
B16 4-2-1 DC header, 2 1/4 exhaust, flowmaster muffler.

Mine used to do that also, I would check the voltage on the tps, map, and check your o2 sensor, 'cause when I replaced all three of those, mine stopped doing it. I still get a little gurgle when I shift sometimes, but I don't mind it, my car probably isn't running perfect right now.

yeah would'nt hurt to get a resonator, or you might have an exhaust leak, those are loud.

Resonator. Remember exhaust is a sound tone...

i wanna try the same set up but running on 2" w/ a magna flow side muffler, i thinks i'll get a resonator too.

Get a resonator for sure! And a high flow cat!

They amount of flow they're going to impede on isn't going to be noticable.

Mine used to do that too when I had a basically straight through exahust with a fart can on the end. People behind me told me if I was givin' 'er and would shift at redline you could see fire pop in my muffler.

I went with a MUCH quieter stock-looking setup and the only difference I can tell is the sound. Plus, I don't get all the negative attention from people/cops.

my 1998 LS does it to, i don't realy know what you can do about it. every time i shift and if i let off the gas then get back on the gas it does it.
