Damper replacement pics

The new damper is a 50 oz unit I purchased from summit part #sum163302
its good up to 6,000 rpm. This was a pretty easy install so long as you have the right tools. By right tools I mean an impact gun to remove the crank bolt. It ain't commin off with a socket I promise you.

The stock damper on the 94-95 is a 4 inch so you will need (4) #16 3/8, 1.5 bolts grade 8. Bolts don't come with the kit, and if you order this particular kit you will need all the parts in the kit including both the tall and short spacers. If you notice the the stock damper is wider than the one I ordered. The kit comes with a collar which you can see in one of the pictures and spacers to make up for the extra depth. If you get a factory replacement damper obviously you won't have to go through most of this but after looking at what the factory put on here I think the performance damper is worth the extra work. By the way that damper didn't come painted I did that to prevent rust, they recommend that in the instructions.

Another word of advice remove the water pump pulley before you attempt to pull the damper. Don't ask, the water pump was the orgional so it needed replacing anyway.

I didn't use and impact gun for mine. Just the old school trick of a breaker bar on the end of my ratchet, long enough to rest on the ground, then bumped over the ignition, and bam loose.

It's always a good idea to inspect an older damper, just for that reason in the picture.

Never heard of that trick lol. I just used a 4' pipe on a 1/2" breaker bar and strained a nut before I got my air tools.

Glad we threw a Pioneer balancer on while the motor was on the stand...

Yeah that is a new one on me too but hey if it works. O well I needed an impact gun anyway this was a great excuse. 600ft lb of torque. Craftman baby I love it.:evillol:
