92 rodeo GAS LEAK......need HELP

hi i have a 92 rodeo, when i bought the truck i was told that the gas tank gasket on the top of the tank might be leaking, bc there was a gas smell, i investigated it afterwards and realized that the seal in the middle of the tank is leaking on the passenger side of the car, what i was wondering is if anyone has used jb weld or a similar product to fix any leaks? and if they worked well? also if you have any recomendations for a good product.......

my next question is, once all the gas is out of the tank, and i pull it down, i read that if you either rinse it and then fill with water, or just fill it with water that it can be "braised"??? what does that mean, i assume thats a form of welding? if not, could i just have a mechanic after rinsing the tank, just weld the seal all the way around the tank? what do you think would be an average price if i walked in with the tank, he did the welding and i did all the other work hooking the tank back up.....

i called all hyundai & isuzu recycling and they quoted me 100 for the tank and 39 shipping(from cali to ri), with a 6 month warranty on the tank, id hate to just drop 100 and then have it do the same thing my current tank is doing...i dont know if any of you guys know of any other places to buy new or used tanks from, i got one price on a new tank and it was 500 bucks, the truck only cost 1500 and i dont have a lot of money to work with, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated

thanks guys im sure youll have some good pointers/tips/advice

Braising is kinda like soldering but stronger and it takes more heat to do.

You should call around to get prices. I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much if you brought in the empty tank.

Try calling some radiator shops. Most radiator shops also do gas tank work, and if they don't can point you to someone who does.

you might also try a fuel tank sealer like KREEM or POR-15 has a new sealer system that is impervious to almost anything. you could do your tank for around a 100 bucks and never have to worry about it again
