Emergency brake won't work

i have a 01 jimmy and the emergency brake will not lock on. one day it just quite working. you can push the foot pedal but nothing happens it won't stay on. i had the same problem with my 98 jimmy. any ideas on how to fix this.

Drop the lower kick panel, check your ratcheting system on the brake... Sometimes they get sticky...
