Question about Jetta transmissions

I was wondering if the connection are the same for the gas Jetta and the Diesel Jetta. I want to use an adapter kit to hook up a Jetta to a 73 Bug but I want to use a diesel engine. There is a place that sells the adapter for a standard engine but would that work fir a diesel? Are they the same at the transmission?
