I am looking to learn how to replace my power steering belt on my 1985 Chevy Silverado. The belt came off. I could not find in my Chilton's book a good explanation.

there should be a diagram of the belt route on the cross brace just above or in front of the radiator. If not you could buy the belt and use trial and error yourself. It should be self explanitory as to how it should fit.

Also, you should replace your other belts while your at it. Since you will have to take other belts off to replace that one, it would be the perfect time to replace them all.

Hope this helps. If any more questions, please ask.

The 85s don't have the diagrams (my 86 doesn't anyway)... all belts stay somewhat circular around pulleys. There is a bolt on the back of the power steering pump that lets it pivot. Loosen that, put the new belts on, pry the pump back so there is tension on the belt and tighten the bolt.

Doesn't really matter, but this site has a seperate forum for 1998 and older trucks. It is labeled C/K.
