Holley or Edelbrock?

Just a general question, which brand would you rather use? Holley Performance products or Edelbrock? It's just i plan on rebuilding my engine and other performance accesories such as headers, carbs, fuel pumps and etc.. and there has been many debate over which is better... Any ideas? Thanks..

i would use edelbrock for crusing. have used edelbrock for a long time and never ahd any problems. But if you want to race i would use holley or demon.

Both. Edelbrock intake manifolds and RPM-up heads, best around. Holley carbs for performance, best around. Holley intakes? Nope. Edelbrock "knock-offs". Edelbrock carbs? Nope. Carter or Rochester "knock-offs". Not such a simple questioin, afterall...
You will hear those saying the E-carbs are fine. Well, maybe. Maybe not. Too many good carb guys report problems with them. Not head bad things about the Rochester replacements, though, just the Carters.

I have used both ebrock & holley carbs & found for everyday driving the ebrock carb did well w/only slight adj after install.The holley was a pain in the ass for every day driving and tricky to adj.But it did well w/your foot on the floor!!!The best carb I used for racing was a preditor fuel metering box & I dont know if you can even get them anymore!!!At the track fuel inj is gaining popularity but big dominators & barry grant still are domminating the big motors.This is my opinion just trying to help.

I have to agree. The edelbrock is better for everyday use, good performance too. Hollys are good if you just want to pour the gas in, like drag strip use etc.

I just got an Edelbrock spreradbore carb after having Holley since I removed the Rochester in 1976, Reason? Less than half the price. I have a 1976 Holley Street Dominator intake that works fine.

from what i heard there both great, but i been hearing that "Speed Demons" are actully pretty damn good, if you want to tear up the road

I have used about a dozen Holley carbs over the years on various vehicles. They are great but every one runs a bit too rich when new.
All work best after a bit of tuning and jetting. Its easy to do. if you know how.

However, many people do not know how or don't bother, so Holleys have a reputation as fuel hogs, because they are not set up right.

Personally, I think every Holley carb should come with a few extra jets, vacuum secondary springs (if applicable) and tuning instructions.

I think you would be very happy with a 625 Road Demon carb. check out this link http://www.barrygrant.com/demon/default.aspx?page=8 The quality is way better than the holly and edelbrock. Just my opinion.

I think any of these carbs listed would work well if set up right. I only have experience with an edelbrock carb and am very happy with it. Had to lean it down a bit, but very simple to tune.

Thanks a lot guys for all your help, i guess i have decided on going with Edelbrock since it is said they are more fit for daily use. I plan on having my car as a daily driver, and over here in Istanbul (Turkey) gas prices are more than $7, so i rather not "pour the gas" too much :) appreciate all the replies..

I'd go with the Holley. MY buddy bought a new edelbrock and it just wouldn't work right. I bought a new holley and it worked great. My Holley model 4175 is a spreadbore type with small primaries and large secondaries and is a direct replacement for a quadrajet. Simple to install and set up and worked as good as fuel injection. One full pump of the accelerator pedal, turn the key and my car would run and idle perfect and would perform way better than the old quad.

A Holly Is Alot More Fiddeling And Altitude And Vehical Angle In A 4x Will Also Affect There Carbs. Edelbrock Is An Easier To Set And More Reliable From -30 To +30'c
