When your looking make sure you check the ouput at all RPMs. A lot of the time you'll find that your stock alt will ctually put out more amperage near idle then the big one's....... Also get a pair of batteries.

I ain't gettin no pair of batteries. Unless I couple them with the 200amp alt.

I was talkin to my friend who knows the guy with the 1 Kove Armageddon 15 and they were trying to tell me it's going to beat my sub and also that running the cadence at 1 ohm would be bad for the amp. They are also saying the excursion on the kove is like 3" or something (in total confusion, is that better than the 32mm xmax of the XXX 15"?). If I'm right, 32mm xmax would be around 2.5". Is there a difference between that with the XXX and the what the Kove has? They said they were hitting about 146 or something on an older term lab setup.

Just read a spec sheet on the Arms and it only has like 24xmax on the U2 series and 18xmax on the ZM series. I'm not sure which series he has though. He might have the T3 series though too. Would that put me in serious trouble?

Nope, no serious trouble at all. The Armageddon IS more of an SPL sub though!

But, where are you getting the alternator from. Don't cheap out on it too much...

Two place I'd recommend:
www.mean-green.com (Where i got mine, great warranty)
www.excessiveamperage.com (The cheapest, but still quality alternators I've found...wouldn't go with much cheaper!)

Also, if you just replace your stock battery and have the HO 200 amp alt you will be fine!

Perfect, If you order from Mean-Green usually they'l give you a discount if you get an actual quote from excessive amperage! Also, tell them N. Gentry sent you if you order from the actual site!

What's their warranty like? The one thing that's keeping me from choosing H.O. hands down is they only give a 1 year warranty, that's sketchy. Especially with alternators.

I didn't see an MG for a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, just a Pontiac Firebird.

it should be ok, sr20 pointed out some things

also excursion isn't everything, some subs perform better than others with less excursion, just becuz the xxx has a higher xmax than your friends sub doesn't instantly mean your sub will beat his

yeah for example i think the 9515 only has like 13.5mm or somethin in the low teens like this and its one of the loudest subs on the market. travel isnt all linear.
