Changing Cam Position Sensor---Any Suggestions?

Hey Everyone, {I searched this forum for "Cam sensor" on replies avail.}

I stopped at Autozone yesterday when the SES light came on and the van began acting up with a poor idle. The OBDII code was showing a bad cam position sensor. I purchased the part and am getting ready to install it this weekend. Has anyone changed this part? If so do you have any tips or suggsetions?
I have the Chilton Manual and it makes it seem pretty straight forward but looking at the engine it looks like I may have to move the power steering pump to get to the sensor. Did anyone have to do this? Chilton says to remove the water pump pully, Do I need a puller or is it bolted on to the pump?
Any input would help.

I don't know what year your van is, but this is from my Factory Service Manual for my 2002 Silhouette.

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor removal.

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the power steering pump. Don't disconnect hoses. Just move it out of the way.
3. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove the attaching bolt
5. Remove the CMP sensor.

Installation Procedure.

1. Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil. replace the O-ring if the O-ring is damaged.
2. Install the CMP sensor.
Torque attaching bolt to 89 lb in.
3. Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the power steering pump.

It doesn't say that you have to remove the water pump pulley. If you do, it looks like it is just bolted on.

Thanks for the input. I didn't even realize I forgot to list the year and eng. Any way it's a 98 w/3.4l and the instructions you have listed are close to the instructions in the Chilton manual for my 98.

The PS pump is fairly easy to move out of the way. You aren't removing it, just unbolting it to gain access to the sensor.
