I am on a trip and realized my cruise control doesn't work. I looked quickly under the hook for loose wires, I'd had some mechanical work done around Xmas, haven't used it since then, thought maybe they knocked something loose. Did not see any loose wires. Does anyone know what the problem could be, a fuse perhaps? I haven't dug deeply in under the hood or fuse box yet, thought maybe someone else had seen this problem, it's a 95 Olds LSS. Thanks.

The cruise control on your 95 is the same on my 94 which is also currently dead which I have spent a lot of time troubleshooting, I have narrowed it down to a bad brake sensor which I am waiting for from the dealer.
But, there are a lot of other things you can check.
The cruise control is vaccum based meaning it uses vaccum hoses and if one is disconnected, you are out of luck.
The most common hose to break is the one connecting to the unit near the brake booster, notice to the left of that looking into the hood you will see a small hose or 2 comming out, make sure these are tight and do not leak, that hose goes to the top of the rear of the engine where the throttle body is and then to the acutator which is located lower down, this has 2 or 3 hoses going into it, make sure they are connected good.
If the hoses are good then it is time to look elsewhere.
Common to fail is the multifunction swich, this pulls right off and switch that with a car at a junk yard for 10 bucks or so. If this does not fix it, check out the brake swich under the dash connected to the brake pedal (it is the one with the vaccum hose going into it). replace that. This is what failed on my car. If it is not that it could be the acutator but these rarely fail from what I have read. Since you have a hybrid ODB system is it throwing any ses lights??

Had some intake manifold gaskets put on, which I don't think were bad, the shop misdiagnosed I think, it may have been the plastic bypass tube on the belt tension, so that gig cost me about $500 for a job I could have done myself. It was working as far as I know prior to that.

Thanks Hansnet, I'll check all these points. I don't know about ses lights, what those are. But I'll start with the easy stuff and work to the hard stuff. The shop may have knocked something loose too, when I left that day, the hoses to my tranny modulator were left off, I did catch that one after the car shifted hard, that one I knew how to fix. Thanks again.

Was this a dealer or a non-gm certified shop???? if it was GM I would be up in the service managers face about that.
Check the rest of the vaccum hoses first that is the easiest.

Look in your ownes manual and you will see the two, inside the car, fuse boxes. One is under the driver side the other under the passenger. The 15 amp fuse for the cruise control/misc engine control is under the passenger side. On the '94 it's not that easy to reach but can be down with a little determination.
