The 1989 turbo trans-am used a slightly better version of the GN turbo 3.8.. Same engine, but TTA had different heads (to allow the engine to fit inbetween the strut towers) different pistons to keep the same combustion chamber volume, and a cross drilled crank, and stainless headers

If you could get a buick GN engine, with the TTA heads and headers, and a gnx intercooler you might be able to make it work.. Use TTA motor mounts and such.. they also used a 200-r4 tranny

gettin your hands on TTA parts could be real tough.. there were only like 1500 of them made and im not sure if you can get these parts from the dealership.. youd probably pay $$$$$$$$ for them..

They were pretty quick cars though.. GM rated them at 250 (i think??) because of the unwritten corvette rule (no passenger vehicle of the same year shall have more hp than the corvette) But bone stock, they dyno'd at closer to 300hp
