Sounds like trouble

1999 cougar factory radio with 6 disc changer in rear. The radio lcd now shows "phone" and wont play. Has anyone come across this. I have taken it apart checked all the connections. I do not have the owners manual to check to see if this is just some kind of mute while on the phone or if there is an input for a phone to listen through the speakers. Dealer said it was not a code that needed unlocked, but would gladly check it out at 65.00 / hr.

Anyone heard of this? All I hear is road noise and I am getting tired of that song.
