downpipe question

im basicly looking for a 3" downpipe that does NOT eliminate my factory cat. i've been on the phone with a couple of vendors i've seen on Dsmtuner and they have all said the same thing. "i'm going to have a hard time finding a shorter pipe like that, and will probibly need to get one custom made"

i've surfed ebay and they all seem to eliminate the cat too. what happend to good old street legal downpipes?? i know eliminating the cat provides better flow and creates less resistence and better vac and turbo spool. Im buying an electric exhaust cut out to run strait downpipe at the strip and want to utilize my factory exaust for a sleeper look and to pass emmissions. so, if anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks.

ps. i know RRE has their short version. it's $230 way to much. i'm trying to find somthing for around $150 or less.

I was going to suggest RRE. A 150 dollar DP is going to be a piece of shit, most likely. A good flex section alone is almost 100 bucks. Add some bends, some welding, a couple flanges, and some food for the kids, I don't know how they could offer anything decent for 150 bucks. That being said, I don't know where you can find one. :)

you can make one. RRE sells the DIY hacker/tweaker flanges for about 15 each, they sell flex sections too, add a mandrel bent 90 bend and weld it all together.

DPs have a bunch of odd angles. They are small, but important. I built my own exhaust, but I didnt want the hassle of building the DP. Not that it cant be done, its just more work than the money you would save is worth, IMO.
