fuel pump or electrical

I have a '98 K1500 Silverado. I began as hard starts every once in a while and the ocassional mid run shut off. Then while going down the highway it just shut off and stayed off. The gage cluster no longer comes on but the engin will turn over. If statring fluid is added the engin will fire but still no gauge lights. Is this an electrical problem or is just the fuel pump shot? any comments.

This may be painfully obviuos but... Have you checked the fuse?

i sure that i have pulled and checked every fuse in the truck. but i will check again.

Check all battery cable connections (both ends).

Also check that all the grounding straps between engine can firewall are good and clean.
