while shopping around for me a 400 block a guy told me that a big block that i have will fit in my 82 camaro. I built the 468 for a 69 short wide chevy i owned for a little bit but sold it before i dropped in the engine.
every person i talked to(granted none have tried the swap) said my big block wont fit without taking out the a/c, cutting the plastic around the heater core, and notching the firewall. now im told none of this is necessary but my main concern is changing valve cover gaskets.
Has anyone here put a big block in a third gen camaro?
This engine was in a 64 chevelle running 10.90s and i have dont nothing but made it better. i would love to work this into my car if it is possible.

theres a guy I see once and a while on the Supra forums that has done a 468" BBC/EFI swap in to a 3rd gen.. He didnt like it though.. He said theres Minimal clearance anywhere in the engine bay, and exhaust routing is a nightmare.. But never mentioned any firewall modding, etc.. If I can track him down I'll ask him

The biggest clearance problem comes from the driver side valve cover against the wiper motor housing. some people have just done away with the wipers to get the clearance.

i came up with all these problems minus the wiper motor just putting in a 350...is this a bad thing?? well i already got rid of the a/c cuz windows do the same but had to smash out the housing and make a custom ducting and i had to dent the firewall to fit headers. tho this is a v6 frame setup (does this matter??) also i welded in my motor mounts after mocking in the motor.

ALL 3rd gen camaros used the same body/frame/firewall set-up.. the a/c is mounted in slightly diff places from the v6 to the v8 but the firewall and heatercore are exactly the same from one to anther

My opinion on the matter is, although I don't know much about camaros....If you can fit a small block or big block into a little ass s-10, you can fit damn near anything in a Camaro.....Hell, even if it involved tearing the whole front end apart, i would still do it to a 3rd gen, That would be wicked. If you can get a Chevelle to run 10.9's (since they are heavy cars to begin with), I would like to see what you can get a 3rd gen to run...

as i was looking at it today, i didnt need to smash out a/c box...but it was fun anyways, plus it looks a lil better. o wellll :screwy:
