i was just wondering about turboing an NA mkiii. i know that the engines are virtually the same, and all you really have to do is install a turbo kit. however, someone said the transmission on an NA cant handle the extra power, but does this mean you have to change the whole transmission or just the clutch?

*bangs head on desk. No offense to you or your question but it's been asked several times in different forms. I would reccomend taking project's advise on this one. But I'll take a shot at it.
Your most likely going to have to replace the transmission simply because it may not be designed to handle the boost from a turbo. I know you'll have to replace the head gasket if you haven't already. I'd suggest a metal head gasket. The next step would be to eventually replace the internals such as pistons, rods, and possibly the crank. But that's only if you plan on running a large ammount of boost. If I think of anything else I'll let you know, but please don't quote me on any of that, just taking a shot in the dark for you. I'd take projects words before mine on this matter.
