An SR20 belongs in Nissans and it is possible to do but not worth it. No where near worth it.

An SR20 engine and the SR20DET engine both are Nissan engines that are available for the 240SX. The SR20DET is the turbo version. I don't think that swapping one of these engines would really be practical unless you want to throw money away. All of the brackets and everything would be custom. You would also have to somehow make the Civic rear wheel drive. I also am not sure that there is enough room in the engine bay of a Civic to put a longitudally mounted engine. I'm sure its possible, but it wouldn't be cheap.
Everything is possible when you throw large amounts of cash at it.

my god...i wonder why no one has tried this swap yet!! how awsome would that be to get a rear wheel drive on a civic.
a stock sr20 has stock of 205rwhp and already comes turboed...so its capable of achieving a very high amounts of boost.
i just need to know if its possible to do this?? are the displacement the same as in the sr20 having the same displacement as the civic engine bay? if so...then someone needs to do it!!
im still a lil new to engine swapping...let me know wut yall think!!

The swap has been done, althoug not in a civic. It was done in a Prelude. There was a thread in the Prelude forum with pictures, I'll try and find it for you. As far as the worth of the swap? With the money they spent, they could've pushed out way more power with an h22 build up than spending it all on custom fabrication for an sr20 swap.

I think you should do it. A civc doing a rear wheel burn out or just being able to do doughnuts in the snow with out going in reverse or pulling the parking break would be sweet.
Someone should make a civic, well a shell, with an SR-10 motor.

Extremely easy, considering some of the older gen sentra's (SE-R) came with sr20de's.

OMG... I can't believe it. I would love to have a car like that cept you would probably spin the wheels all day when you just look at the gas pedal

wow what a stupid swap, a silvia motor into a civic. what a buttload of money, youd be better off with a honda motor. plus the sr20det isnt from the states unless you get it from someone here. i guess that motor is illegal or some shit so good luck through customs and whatnot.

It doesn't necessarily need to be from a silvia; In fact, I would favor one from an Pulsar, since its already FWD. I'm pretty sure that shipping over an sr20det isn't that hard, since you can just say you're replacing your sr20de. Although, you are right about being better off with a honda motor.
