okay, because it's 11:30pm and I can't think of anything better to do (as if I shouldn't be studying) other than trying to figure out what to do with my currently non-functional car...I will post some pics. (I think I am now officially what you guys refer to as a "post-whore"). It's only cause I'm tired, delirious and bored all at the same time. okay, look....

eBay... Capital Auto Parts in (washington?). cost me $140! Why the hell are valve covers so damn expensive!?!? I didn't even want to spend $30 on covers, they're just a rectangular piece of metal with holes in it!!! But I figured i should buy something that I like rather than spend $70 on some that I don't like.
Note: they are polished aluminum, not chrome, i'm tryin to stay away from chrome. you can tell the difference when you're looking at them.

You have an awsome looking motor man. How long have you been working on it?

interesting... white headers... i was just thinking about why u never see white headers or white spark plug wires. I was thinking about doing one or the other myself, but I'm not sure if it would maintain its color over time.

anyway, I bought the engine bout 3 months ago, near the beginning of winter (notice the grass outside in the first pic). I didn't really start working on it till christmas break, so technically been working on it for 2 months (less than that if you factor in my random spurts of lazy inactivity).

Is your 454 all stock? the engine bay on third gens are so big you should be able to put big blocks in there with no modifications. What were they thinking? I would have went with a big block too. Chevy dropped the ball on that one.

Edelbrock RPM Performer intake, Accel tach bat coil, MSD 6AL box, Accel 9mm race wires, Holley 850 carb, Comp Cams 1.7 ratio aluminum roller rockers, Heads have been milled, shaved, port and polished, bowl hogged, have 2.25/1.88 valves in them, triple valve springs foor for up to a 670 lift cam, but currently has a 600ish lift Comp Cams, Bottom end is totally reworked and the rods are fitted for ARP bolts, Melling HV oil pump, and basically everything in the bottom end of the block (bearings and such) is built for racing. Lots of other nit picky things, but those are the main mods that I can think of.

Ive always had white headers on my cars. They are painted with high temp paint that is specifically designed for headers and has a little bit of ceramic in the paint. As long as you don't beat on them or anything it holds up fine. I had to beat on my headers to get them to fit around my steering box, and some of the coating came off. They look pretty good though when sitting in a black engine bay. And I have seen more then a few street driven third gen camaros with big blocks in them. Just takes a little work to get it done.

WHen are you looking to get your motor in the car?

i met a post whore once. she was pretty hot, but she liked them trashy posts, not the classy posts like lamps or decks. she always went after like signs and fences, ended up in the hospital for a week from an infected splinter. damn shame really...

lol... yall are silly.

G** DAMN! you got a lot of work in tha BB. From the first pict it looked all stock with some paint and new intake. good work! I bet it runs like crazy. Been to the track yet? How many race have you lost so far (street or strip)? I think white headers would look pretty good on mine... brighten up the engine bay a bit. What do yall think? The bay itself will be black. just got the Red Accel 8mm wires today, distributor, and rapidfire plugs and MY PULLEYS CAME IN finally!

going to pickup the trans tommorrow in Saint Louis, buying rebulid kit now, should be here middle of next week, rebuild it that weekend, drop everything in on or before the following weekend. (if all goes well, which it probably won't).

Yea... this would be more fun if I had another car to drive in the meantime. Also, nobody told me how difficult it would be to find all the bolts that I need. I'm getting all new bolts and its a big pain in the ass! GM can only give me specs on like 2 bolts cause their comp. system doesn't have much info from 1979! Gotta match stuff up at Ace Hardware, but not all of them are exact matches. Oh, and if I don't have the originall bolt anymore, FU*K! Big pain in the ass!

By the way, if anybody knows exactly what bolts i need for the fuel pump cover plate, please let me know... (on the engine block).
