Apparently one of my spark plugs is ARC-ing and melting away the wire....has anyone heard of this happening? My Check Engine light was on because of this..........now it's costing me $160...shouldnt this be covered by warranty?

hey question...
when i put my CAI on my car, i didnt think of keepin my stock intake... so i brought it to hyundai b/c its not idling right and they tell me that i have to get a new sensor so they can find the other problems, its goin to cost 380 if i let them do it... does anyon have theirs they could send me or should i not worry about it?

did you put all of the sensors back into it?
like say, the intake air temp. sensor? if you took things out, they do have to go back in ya know.

no it was the mass air flow sensor... and since the elantras have the same engine as the 4 cyl tibs... dont you think that the sensor would be the same?

as long as you get the same beta II maf sensor you will be fine, but dont get it. i have a checklist for you:
-make sure the MAF sensor was put on the correct way. the arrow should be pointing towards the throttle body.
-make sure the Intake AIR Temp sensor is in SNUGLY. you should have used the grommet that was in the stock intake.
-make sure all couplers are tight. you dont want any leaks.
-if you got replacement hoses for the pcv and idle control actuator, make sure they are UNKINKED.
im guessing that you have the cvvt 4 cylinder engine in your 04, because thats the only beta engine after 2001 that is MAF based.
whatever you do, dont buy anything yet.

yeah true about the wires... does anyone know where i could get a Mass air flow sensor? I've had lots of people tell me that my idle is f'ed because its not detecting the sensor and cant tell how much air is coming in

i dont have it... when i took my stock intake off, i put it out in the shed... then we moved... and now its gone, needa buy one though and hyundai said its gonna cost about 380, but they also told me that if i could find one from a wrecked tib or elantra it would be alot cheaper
