Decision Help

Hello all, I have the option of being given a 1991 BMW 325i convertible or selling the car and using the money to puchase the car of my choosing. I am a 17-year-old HS student so im wondering what the matience on a 1991 BMW would be. Do you have to use premium fuel? Is it a car that can be supported by a student working afterschool/weekend jobs or is it only possible for the professional to have such a car. I have never owned a BMW so i have no idea. And if this car does have a hefty upkeep price what other kind of car should i get inplace of the BMW, that would have the same "coolness" factor as the convertible.
