Muffler Tip??

I would like to get a new sound out of my car so I would like to get a muffler tip and need some knowledge about how to get just a tip and how to put it on. Do I have to take my car in to a shop to get the muffler tip on or can I do it my self??
If anyone could give answers it would be appreciated! Thanx.

i dont know zip about muffler tips, but i do know they sell plenty of them at the parts stores, and if they sell them there, you can do it yourself, generally, and the guy behind the desk will fill you in on how tricky it might be.

why not just buy a muffler?

If you just put a new tip on the stock muffler, the sound will be largely, if not completely unchanged.
