I posted somewhere that i thought yellow was ferrari's house colour and not red.... i had heard it somewhere but couldnt remember where.. anyway, everyone disagreed saying it was red.. just came across this today:

(Written by Enzo Ferrari)

"The story of the prancing horse is simple and fascinating. The horse was painted on the fuselage of the fighter plane flown by Francesco Baracca, a heroic Italian pilot who died on Mount Montello: the Italian ace of aces of the First World War. In 1923, when I won the first Savio circuit, which was run in Ravenna, I met Count Enrico Baracca, the pilot's father, and subsequently his mother, Countess Paolina. One day she said to me,
"Ferrari, why don't you put my son's prancing horse on your cars, ...it would bring you luck."
I still have Baracca's photograph with the dedication by his parents, in which they entrusted the emblem to me. The horse was black and has remained so; I added the canary yellow background because it is the colour of Modena."

Maybe it's true but still if you say ferrari pepole mostly put a red sportscar into their minds... I mean ordinary pepole not car lovers or enthusiast , here it doesn't have to be so... But for me still if i could have any ferrari in the world i would go for a red F40 without even a blink...

Many years ago when racing colors were assigned, Italy was red. (France was blue, british was green, etc.). The most sold color on Ferraris used to be "rossa corsa" or "racing red". I'm not sure that continues because of all the nice new colors offered on 360s and 550s.

That's interesting thought , does anyone know other country's colors? I know that german used to be silver , but what for the rest?

i have always thought that red was the official ferrari color...hum i was wrong

but i guess that was only because of the Testarossa and other rossa cars which meant red
