My 96 neon's speedometer won't work!

What is the problem? How can I fix it? is it going to be expensive?

Also there is a large rattling in the back now when I go over bumps, I assume I need new struts...am I right?

as for your struts...remove everything including your spare tire from the back of the car and go on a short but bumpy test ride, it may be just stuff in the back of the car, if that doesn't work put the rear of the car up on jack stands and check to make sure all your hangers are tight and secure on your exaust system...if you still feel its your struts and if you dont have a spring compressor and you are a novice have a garage check then and do them...good luck
