Air bag release module problem

Hi all... recently got into a front fender bender... where the air bag did not release. Now getting a flashing air bag light on the dash panel. Tried to disconnect the battery to reset. Did not work. Anyone know if the whole module circuit board needs to be replaced. Since the air bag did not release on impact (only four miles an hour), wondering if the release module was defective to begin with. I got a cost of $413.00 for a new module. Any other suggestions to reset, or what I should pay out for a new one. Thanks.

Depending on the year.If you have crash zone sensors, the system must see one crash zone sensor and the safing sensor go off together. You may have damaged the crash zone sensor but the impact was not severe enough to set off the safing sensor.Need a year and I can guide you through diagnosis.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like one needs some computer programming classes to diagnose the problem. Easier to replace the circuit board... $450 replacement = diagnoses. Oh well. Thanks.

Wait.Open your driver door.Turn key to on position{not start}.Within 5 sec.push driver door swwitch in and out more than seven times.{door switch for interior light at bottom of middle pillar.}airbag light will flash a code .Get back to me with code.I'm sure you have a crash zone sensor damaged, not a control unit failure. It may be a waste of $450.

Infinman...that worked!!! Pressed the door switch about 10 times, seems to have reset the sensor... no more flashing light! Thank YOU!!! Guess I own you a $450 steak dinner!

... and it also got my bose stereo system working again after five months... but then all went "poof"... the air bag flashing light came back on and the bose system died. The door switch cleared the system for awhile... so maybe it's something like an electrical circuit overload. Also, the air bag flashing light never displayed an error code. Oh well, more diagnostics on the wiring may fix it... thanks again for the door switch tactic...
