Porting...

I was reading up on those measurements you gave me, stang, and I can't quite understand tuning a port. Is the slot to the right of the sub the port? Or do I have to install those tapered tube port things in the box as well? Most importantly is the tuning though, how do I accomplish this? WinISD?

The tuning is based on the size of the box, the cross sectional area of the port, and the length of the port. You can use WinISD to get the relation between all of these. The best thing to do is plug in the size box that your sub needs, the port area that you need to prevent port noise, and the tuning that you want, and then WinISD will feed you back the length port that is required.

With the big vent to the right of the sub on a box, does the box still require a tubed port? Or is that slot the port?

WinISD is a pos. I can't change back to metric. Obviously not a thought out program.

whenever you see some units, like an empty box with "m^2" next to it, click on the "m^2"

Alright, thanks. But now when I enter in the QMS, QES and QTS, it won't accept the values I enter that I got off of RE's site.

WinISD likes to calculate its own values, even if it's .001 off of the one that you typed in, unless it calculates its own it will bitch. Try clearing out a field, press tab, if it fills the field with something similar to what you had then try clicking OK again. If it doesn't fill it then put back what you had and try a different one.

They didn't have this feature on the older versions, I'm not a big fan of it.

Eh, I figured that out too. But I got too deep into the program when trying to figure out how to get the port and crap. I'll just go with what I got on paper that stang gave to me.
