Squeak, Squeak, Squeak....Brakes?

While driving with the windows down, I've noticed my truck makes a metal against metal sound probably about once per revolution of the wheels(so it gets faster as I speed up). It sounds similar to a wear indicator on pads, but I'm pretty sure my pads have plenty left on them. So could it be: (a) new pads anyway, (b) parking break dragging(again and even though I never fixed it in the first place), or (c) extremely warped rotors, or maybe even none of the above.
It sounds more like a scraping than a squeaking I guess, so I don't think it is my u-joints, and I'm pretty sure it is coming from the rear. Also, on another note, does the new kit for the parking brake actually fix the problem for good?
Thanks,
Jeb

Apply the brakes a little while driving and if the noise goes away , it is the brakes. If it does not go away then most likely it is a u-joint going bad.

Check for a rock between the front rotors and the backing plate. Sometimes a rock will get stuck in there and make the sound you are refering to.

Just a quick update....
I took it to Midas here to have it diagnosed since all of my tools are in Houston and I couldn't jack it up to remove the wheels. Turned out to be the inside brake pad on the passenger side rear. Tech said this was common with these trucks to go out first. I also had him look at my parking "break" assembly to see how bad off it was. Ended up just getting him to put in the parking "break" kit from AC Delco and replacing the pads with ceramic mix in house pads. Also replaced some rusted brake hardware and flushed the system. Now $492 later and the squeal is gone.
Thanks,
Jeb

there is a flap kit GM has that is supposed to stop that inboard ware, or worse complete rear axil brakes from going prematurilly. It prevents road spray from the front wheels from going to the rear which according to GM the grit from the road is whats causing the ware. Just a rubber flap that looks like a mud flap and goes forwerd in the rear wheel wells...jj
