I went to the Philly auto show on Monday and wasent too impressed with what chevy had their asside from the new vett and the ssr. I was interested in seeing what was new for the silverado , im guessing they were the 06' models, but maybe they were 05's. The only thing I really noticed was that alot of the trucks had factory 20"s on them. Other than that, I dident see much of a difference from my 00'. The interior, the gauges, rear seat.... seems like nothing has changed, and the things that I did notice that changed werent that drastic.
What I did like though was the new F-150's and the Nissan Titan's. They are some really nice trucks. Even the new Toyota Tacoma was really nice. I guess what im saying is that Chevy has some catching up to do if they want to stay compettative with the other guys. Anyone else feel that Chevy needs to update their trucks? It seems like GM is putting alot into the new GMC's, like their Denalie line of trucks, thoes I liked too... but the 47k pricetag was a little much. I donno, I just had to vent a little, maybe some people will agree with me...or dissagere..whatever, thats what the forums are for.

I agree completely with you. I went to the auto show here in Houston and wasn't impressed with Chevy's booth. I don't like the SSR however. Just not everything they make it out to be. Chevy needs to do a complete make-over of everything. Why is it that they make all of their interiors so damn similar and only make minor adjustments to it? I use to be a hardcore Chevy fan, but within the last few years I've started looking at other brands and will undoubtably NOT buy a Chevy when I purchase my next truck.

i like the SSR's a lot as well, but as far the silverados to me i believe the other brands have finally caught up to chevy. the only thing i wish chevy would do is bring back the camaro and i do believe they will eventually.from what i see already the new mustang that has a bit of the 67 fastback styling is going to be very successful. if chevy would do that with the camaro with a retro 68 camaro styling and make it a competitive performance to compete with the mustang i believe it would sell great. never understood why they discontinued to make them any way...they have always been a great seller for chevy.

I'm leaning towards purchasiing a Nissan Titan next...I really liked the ones I've driven.

Yeh Chevy has been draggin here over the past 6-7 years with a lot. I really dont like the shift away from the more power and user friendly vehicle to now having more technology and luxuary. Here a solution, bring back the Camaro and the 350. the 350 is undisputabley the best engine ever made period. A 350 is very capable of squirting out 350+ hp, i know cuz you can buy them in catalogs from GM. Also there is a cool trend with fast sport trucks which i like, but also it would be even cooler if there was a truck made from factory for off-roading. Just something that comes high and with big tires from factory. No matter what it is or how powerful it is there is no way i would never pay over $30k for a new car or truck.

I never made it to the auto show. I ended up at the dealer last week. I got the 5300, Eaton rear, and a couple other goodies.
I saw the thread about the side trim removal. That was the first thing I did. The truck performs good with the rated 295 HP.
Here is the improvement from removing the side trim:
