Why???

I'm doing an english report on Street Racing. And I need like 50 facts and a 3-5 minute speech. Does anyone know of any webpages that gives facts about street racing. And I was wondering why do people race there cars??? I may use some of your guys' reasons for racing in my speech.

Let me just say....I have a 4x4 nissan, so I didn't need a fast car!

well one of the reasons i race is because people seem to see a 1.6L and automatically think its a pooch from hell. I've only asked one person if they wanted to run em but i've ended up runnin about 5 ppl so far, lost once:apoke:. I think people in domestics race imports to prove domestics are better. peole in imports race domestics race to prove imports are faster. I personally am one that likes to race domestics :bandit: facts on street racing............ummmm 1/4 or 1/8 mile track, 2 cars, lots of women if possible. done peace im out

I think there's a lot of excitement to be had in racing, the rush of going all out and feeling the full force of the vehicle, and even better the thrill that comes in winning. Also, a lot of people put a lot of work and $ into their cars and they want to see their work & $ put to use(by toasting some punk in a neon, no doubt--please don't flame, i just have something personal against neons)

Not neon lights, Dodge Neons! I hate them too? I dont see a reason not to hate them. No disrespect to Neons. I respect the ones that have been taken in by real rAcers (not rIcers) and made fast. I dont respect the ridiculous ones. But make no mistake, I hate ALL of them. Sorry Neon owners:( :D

as for why I do street race sometimes,it's for the adrenaline rush and the fact that the car you built can outrun the cars that others have built

I love all cars and wish I could race all of them.

To be specific though, I choose to race compact cars with small engines because I am a big fan of the underdog. Think of it this way: If you are say, a Corvette owner, and you get beat by a Camaro SS, you'd raise an eyebrow, but move on. If you happen to get beat by say, an almost stock-looking Civic LX 4dr (which can happen if I pursue my goal of a b18 swap with turbo), you would just shit your pants, and head for the nearest mechanic for a check-up. And how do you think the Viper owner felt when he lost to that Civic hatch in that video? Also, how do you thing the Mustang GT owners feel getting beat by WRX's all day, but still having to pay more for gas?

Which is highly possible if I pursue my dream of swapping in an MR2 engine and pushing a high boost out of it with a T304 Turbo and fully building it. You seem to have a lot of disrespect for Corolla's yet you speak of Honda's as Gods. Hey, back in 96, Honda's couldn't do sh*t to Corvettes. It took guys with my kind of attitude to build them up. Now look at Honda's... 4 cylinders breaking into 8's at the quarter. Daily drivin 10 second hatch backs, that still get more than 14 miles to the gallon. Why is it so hard to believe a Corolla can do the same thing?
YOu don't think I can make my stock motor break into 12's, maybe 11's? You don't think if I fully build the head swap in a turbo, that it's possible?

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised at all. I know a Corolla S packs a 125HP engine with 1.8 liters of displacement from the same family of engines as the Celica's 2ZZGTE including VVT-i, where as my LX would be lucky to have 115hp with my intake/exhaust. Did you read my post where I told you that I like ALL cars? Between my subscriptions and the mags I occassionally buy from the store, I read about 7 car mags monthly. Also, where did you read that I have ricer stickers? Have I ever made that claim? Did you even ask me how I feel about those stupid things?

The ricer stickers statement wasn't referring to you, the only part of that sentence referred to you was "Now you know..." The rest was just saying why I race a Corolla. The ricer stickers was in reference to the Corolla drivers who have ricer stickers and exhaust and already think Corolla's are fast. It's a disrespect to what I'm trying to make live. It's guys like this NSX guy, who don't even have a race-worthy car, and start dissing one, that make me upset. They're just like those V8 owners who laugh at Civics and Celica's.

And you did say it as an insult, you straight out said, am I jealous because I couldn't afford HP. Tell me if I got pre-approved for a 15,000 dollar loan for a car and all I cared about was HP, don't you think I would've bought a 3,000 dollar 5.0 and put 12,000 into it? Or some other ghetto project like a Civic with a Type R motor.

Don't try to turn things around. I said ghetto project in a non-insulting way. Learn what I mean before you jump into your dumb presumptions. When I say ghetto project, I mean something you have to do on your own. Ever heard of a ghetto vtec controller? Ghetto GSR? (LS with GSR engine and interior) Yeah, there is a thing in this world called slang.
And if I didn't like Honda's then why are three members of my crew drivers of DOHC Vtec's? it's not because of speed leverage, because I beat two of them already. It's because of my respect for Honda. I respect Honda, I don't respect drivers of Honda's that have nothing better to say than, "Corolla's are weak" How do you think I'm going to respond to statements like that? Hey NSX guy, the one with no Honda... You talk trash coz my Corolla isn't Euro or Jap spec... Ever hear of conversions? What are you going to say about the American Civic Si? It sucks because it's not the Jap spec version? What about the American 240sx's, they suck coz they're not Silvia's? I know a few 240sx's, that will ALWAYS hand ur a$$ to you, now and in the future, because they're not even "Silvia's".

What it seems to boil down with you is that you need express yourself a little better. If you didn't come in flaming (or at least sounding like you were:rolleyes: ), you wouldn't have been spending the short time you've spent here on PH defending yourself against it's residents. If you feel that you are being flamed, be the adult and refuse to stoop to that level. I personally feel that, despite the fact that you'll probably deny this, you have been bent on flaming me, subtle or not, and the other people who have decided that you are a "tard", as you guys put.
