93 J30 does not accelerate and stops..

Hey guys, my wife's 93 J30 is giving some major problems and I hope someone could give some advice on where I can start looking.

Last night when driving home the J30 stopped accelerating. When you press on the gas pedal, car does not go faster than 10 mph. At times the car would stop. When you restart the car again same thing happens over and over again. It does not accelerate and stops.

The car has 150K, and I am wondering if the Engine has given up? Maybee the transmission? If someone knows where I can begin troubleshooting the problem I will appreciate it.

You do not complain of noises, thereby I assume just electronical problems. Quite a few possibilities, start by eliminating the most obvious.

I assume engine is still idling:
- If engine does not die totally, ignition is working. Fuel delivery: pump stops?
- MAF, TPS -or- O2 -sensor fails; engine drops to safe mode (2200rpm limit)
- ECU/TCU etc connector contacts oxidized [=definitely they are, maybe even the reason for all this?]

You need to stop telling people about this ECM{2200rpm limit} safe mode. It does not exist.TCU yes.ECM no.You'll just confuse people.

You sound like your having the same problem as me. Are you smelling gas when it shuts down? If so, as in mine, it has to be electrical as I'm getting gas. I have not fixed mine j30 yet, but at the nissan dealership I was told: Mass Air Flow Senser, Ignition Module, Coil Packs, Or Main Computer. I have replaced first two in my j30 to no avail.
