i have a 91 cavvy and i think i have just fallen victim of the TCC problem. I was told just to unplug it by one mechanic and he said i can run without it and i dont need it. 2 other mechanics told me i can burn the heck out of my tranny without it and eventually blow up the tranny. so what should i do just unplug it or get it replaced? does anyone know anyone that had a blown tranny with the unplugging of the TCC? or is it fine just to unplug it forever? also i need to know which mechanic is telling the truth let me know ASAP PLEASE!

It only locks up the torque converter for highway driving! It's fine to just unhook and leave so. You'll just use more fuel on the highway. To fix it costs loads anyhow, probably more than a 2nd hand trans! I've never heard it blowing a trans but they may just want to make you pay them to fix it! Just climb under on the driver side and pull the blue elec plug from the trans on the underside of the housing. only thing on it in that area!

yeah, it just electric control converter-lock up. You'll suffer lower mpg, and engine will rev a bit higher, but as long as you don't speed-demon it, should be fine.
