Hello, I just got my car up and running again. Just installed Aem Cold air intake, OBX short shifter, and OBX exhaust. My question is, Is tein a good suspension for drifting and an everyday car? Or is the hks?

Tein is a good suspension, but there are so many other options for the 240sx now I wouldn't pick Tein just b/c they charge too much. I'd look into SPL KTS coilovers, they are one of the best quality coilovers for the 240 right now, while being a very reasonable price. Check out www.splparts.com

um well both are....hks is way more expensive though. Also tein has just released there new drift spec coilovers. i have the tein type flex and have no complaints. But are you really going to be a drifter?? ASk your self this question. Are you really going to take the time to calibrate what stiffness you like for your ideal coilover set up? THere all adjustable to find a stiffness level you like. Personally i really cant tell the difference between 1 or 2 turns lol. But hey what ever floats your boat. If you got the money hks would be a nice buy. But the teins will do just as good and are probably more suitable for your budget.

i say choose whats most commonly used by the pro's(they must use them for a reason right) and i get the whole sponsor thing too, but they get to choose sponsors i assume......teins are pretty common along with a number of other companies. I personally like kei office and tanabe. But thats me. And tein is not over priced compared to some of the other companies.

Any Teins under 1600$ are either overpriced (HE) or absolute ass (FLEX, SS, Basic) The HKS's are overpriced as shit too.

Silk Road RMA-08s, SPL Coilovers, and Buddy Club are the three best for 1500$ or less.

Under 1000 There are The Megans and K-Sport which are sturdy but the damping is what you would expect for 800$

I agree, Teins are overpriced and the reason why many top drifters use em is because Tein sponsors them. They are good coilovers, don't get me wrong, but all these new coilovers just came out that are at a much better price than Teins are. Silk Roads and SPL's are top choice coilovers, each costing only $1,100. SPL KTS's are actually more sturdy than Tein HE's, if you've ever seen them in person you'd know what I'm talking about. SPLs and silk roads also have inverted front shock design, this basically means it is more durable and lasts longer than other non-inverted shock design coilovers (like Tein). Both also COST LESS

Megan Racing and D2s (k-sports are officially out of business in the US, their distributor trix racing went bankrupt) are pretty good coilovers as well. They aren't as sturdy and don't have the qualty that SPL KTS's and silk road offers, but it's good for daily drivers who don't drift. I don't know what you mean by the dampening is what you would expect for $800, D2s offers 36-way dampening adjustment which is the highest for any coilovers for the 240sx while the Megan Racing has 15 (or 16) way dampening adjustment. (Tein HEs and SPL KTSs offers 16 way dampening adjustment)

My recommendation is SPL KTS coilovers for daily driving, or drifting. I've ridden in em and they are great for its value. And no I don't have them in my car, I have D2s in my 240 right now

Yeah uh, Im sure that they all use the FLEX :gay: Hence why I said the ones under 1600$ THE RA / RE / HG Are the good ones and even they lack some of the features you can find on Endless and such.

The HE has Ok damping but for 1400$ they should have inverted fronts and sturdier construction.

The FLEXs have no business on any kind of track car

The SPLs has a beefier camber plates than Tein HEs, as well as everything else just about

if you're looking for a daily driver with peformance, coilovers could be overdoing it. Try looking into springs and struts.. they'll save you money and the ride is a lot more comfortable.

Tein is good... but the brandname is somewhat taking over now. They are Japanese manufactured parts... but they aren't the only ones that are high performance.. it's jus probably the most well-known here.

for springs/shocks I recommend eibach sportlines + agx shocks. I think eibach sportlines are better, and are lower than tein SS springs.

But I use D2 coilovers as daily driver with performance, I do admit it is uncomfortable, but the handling is superb. I don't feel anymore bodyroll and wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Or you Could get the SPLparts coils that dont suck :dunno:

1) You fell in to the marketing "OMG DRIFT SHIFT KNOB" Tarp
2) Teins that cost less that 1600$ are WACK
3) IMO you really didnt want anyones opinion you just wanted every one to know your a 1337 drifter and are getting ready to buy some badass DRIFTOR coils (Tein Super Street :gay: )
4) You need Spring/Shocks not coils. you dont strike me as competent enough to even know what the hell to do with good coils. (When I say good I dont mean those Teins)

Cliff Notes : Teins Suck. You Suck.

Is there any way to raise/lower my car while driving, but still have good coilovers. My car isn't lowered now, and it scrapes the ground a lot, even when I go slow on dips, etc. AND I plan on lowering it. What should I do?

Are there ANY in-car raise/lower electronics (whether I'm moving or not) that I can use with aftermarket suspension.
