How do you remove the rear speakers from a 98 civic 2dr. The main thing I want to get at is the speaker grill, but I can't pop it out. I tried to pry it out but I nearly broke the tabs, please help.

If it is the coupe, I am pretty sure you have to remove the entire rear deck. On my 99 I had to. It is pretty easy, there are some plastic button things if you pull the rear seat down, you gotta remove the ring that goes around the seat lock, and I belive you can pull it off from there. It might fight you because there are littl clips under the deck that hold it down.

Are you talking about the three tabs on the back surface itself? It looks like if I take off the back, it will get stuck because the back side moldings are overtop of it. Will I have to take these off to, if so, how?, Thanks.

yeah, I believe you have to pull the quarter panel pieces out a bit to make the back come out, but I don't think they have to be completely removed.....it is a real pain in the but, I did it 2 times, once to get the back tinted so they could cover the brake light, and then to put some 6.5's in the read deck

1. go in trunk and pull out wire for 3rd brake
light.
2. push all little poppers up from under the rear
deck
3. take off the plastic surround of the key lock
on the rear deck
4. pull down rear seats
5. (optional) take out seats or just pull the
quarter panel out far enough to get the rear
deck out
6. reassemble in opposite order

yes it is a pain, but the only way to do it!

ggod luck
