Got a ticket for modified Exhaust, need to ask a question

I got a $68 ticket for modified exhaust system tonight, I always thought that it cant be over a certain decibal point, thats not what the cop said, he said that ISNT true. So I wanted to ask if anyone knows the site for Florida Laws and what it says about modifed exhaust systems because Im going to take it to court, I found one site on Florida laws that says it cant be over a certai decibal point but it says at the top 2004, I know its probably still the same but I am looking for an updated one just to be 100% positive.

modifed exhaust huh?? technically even a muffle tip is "modifying" your exhaust, which isnt illegal, bring it to court and say he never tested your Db's and simply putting "modded exhaust" is too broad... u should get out of it.

Thanks for the tip, Ima gonna use that, But just to be 100% safe im looking for a legit site stating that it cant be louder then a certain decibal point, not just a modified exhaust.

do you have a carb exempt sticker for the exhaust? If you don't they can get you for that. It's not just noise pollution that they can ticket you for, they can get you for air pollution too.

never heard about a 'carb legal' muffler.. I have gotten that ticket a few times here in cali and I had to get a 'state referee' to run the tests and then sign off my tickets and send the proof in electronically to the traffic court.

Do you have a name brand catback? Usually they have a piece of paper or something saying that their exhaust is 50 state legal. If you bring that to court they'll drop it.

cops are dicks they can give u a ticket for ne thing they want really. i got a ticket on the way to the hospital, i had to get stitches in my hand, took it to court and still had to pay $150.00 i was doing 70 in a 40 at 3am. not drunk or ne thing just cut real bad. got a ticket on the way f#*kin sucked.

yea the thing that sucks is that I called the company that makes my catback and they said its not street legal not because of loudness or wateva, but because they said some shit about they dont pay the government taxes to make it street legal or some crap like that. So I dont have any paper stating its street legal, but the thing is I got the ticket for my exhaust being just MODIFIED, the cop said you cant TOUCH your exhaust and make it different from factory, I never heard about that. Thats why im trying to find the laws on this situation.

Yeah I've heard that before; that you can't change it from stock. I don't know if it's a real law or if it's just an excuse to write a ticket. I'd think if you called the DMV that they'd be able to tell you the law. And if they say it's BS, ask them to fax or send you the proof (or even go pick up a photocopy from them).

well its all bullshit because if u get really technical even body kits are illeagal. just depends on where u are. my cuzin was out in cali and said the cops really bother them out there and its about the same in JC, MO if u have a tricked out car they will mess with u. like i said cops are just dicks

I got a cheap brand name called BOMZ Racing. Dont knock on me lol. I like it. Yea im prolly gonna give the DMV a call. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it. I'll give an update on what happens later on.

oh, yah the cheaper companies usually don't bother with those types of things.
