Question about my new palm m105

Okay i just receive my m105 and it came with a hotsync cradle (which i think is a way to connect to my pc) anyway...if i have the cradle do i need the the hotsync cable? ALso I know i need the OBD II cable to log onto my car. Pocketlogger.com sells the cables for $125 and multiplex engineering sells them for $85....what is the difference? Thanks guys and I appreciate the help! -Ray

The multiplex cable is fine. Exact same thing as Pocketlogger cable, minus the software and price hike (and the Pocketlogger.com sticker :p).
You can also use just your cradle. As long as your cradle has a serial port (a thing with a bunch of holes and a bolt on either side), you can use it with the logger cable. Make sure to get the logger cable from Multiplex that interfaces with OBDII systems. The number is T16-003. I got a price quote from them of $85.85 shipped.

If you are buying the pocketlogger software, you get the cable with the software. My M105 only came with the cradle and I ended up getting a different cable off of e-bay. Using the cradle in the car was worthless and there was no way to mount it. I was able to pick up a cable that just plugged into the bottom of the Palm. If I remember correctly it was 5 or 6 bucks. I was able to make a bracket and mount the palm on the dash. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! I just have one more quick question. So if i just get the cable from multiplex, how am i gonna get the software? Do you think my best bet is pay the extra 40 because it comes with the software? Can i get the software from some other vendor thats cheap?

I would recommend going with the Pocketlogger setup. It is a "proven product" and is used by a couple of guys on this board. We can all help you set it up, interface with your computer and troubleshoot problems. If you go with a cheaper alternative you will probably be on your own.

Pro's: Save interface settings for 3 different cars, Large 4 parameter display (when logging 4 or less parameters, each parameter gets 1/4 of the screen). Automated byte timing interface test. Free PLViewer software for viewing logs on your computer. Access to Pocketlogger.com's forum. Easy to use interface. (Most of these are for v2.0)
Con's: Only 1.....you can't log knock (but then again nothing but DSMLink can on a 2g :mad: )

Yes, it is worth the extra money for Pocketlogger IMO. You can get away with Tunerstein, or so I've heard, but the best logger you can buy is only $40 more, and well worth the software and support.

okay cool, thanks guys for the help. I think i am gonna go for the pocketlogger, but itll probably be a while till i get the hotsync cable....gonna have to dill with the annoying big ass cradle for a good time.

I know that the mandatory model year for the OBD-I to OBD-II conversion was 1996, but I think that Mitsubishi started the OBD-II with the 1995 model year. If you are going to use a laptop, I would suggest going with DSMLink. With a 95 Eclipse, you SHOULD have an E-Prom ECU (Do a search if you are unsure of how to check).
Since you are asking about a logger, I am going to assume you are looking toward an injector/turbo/FP upgrade. This would require a Palm, logging software, cable and SAFC-II. By already having an EPROM ECU you will spend about the same amount on DSMLink as you would with the SAFC-II / Logger combination. And, we all know, DSMLink kicks ASS!
Or, you could send me your ECU and I will send you my Palm, logger, cable and my ECU :)
