code 54.....Stalling Blazer

Ok 94 Blazer 4.3 auto.

A few months ago I had a stalling/hard start problem on 4 occasions. It threw Fuel pump/fuel delivery codes so a new fuel pump went in. Now 3 months later it stalled while idling. It started right up. I drove home and it stalled 4 times in 10 miles. Each time it wouldn't start right away and I didn't hear the fuel pump. Then I would try it and the fuel pump would kick on. "I noticed the pump part only one time. " It's now showing code 54. I'm not very familiar so I need some help.. Thanks to all...

Search this forum and the blazer forum for CPI injector

I don't think it's the injection spider. I thought fuel got into the oil when it was leaking... It could be the cpi regulator sticking, but I was thinking more fuel pump/relay related. I could be wrong though. I'm sure one time I didn't here the pump running when I tried to start it and then When I tried it again...the pump ran and it started right up. When it does start, it runs perfectly. Also, code 54 is computer malfuntion... what 's that about?

Code 54 indicates a problem with the fuel pump circuit.

What does that include? fuel pump and relay??? or the entire fuel delivery system.... Injectors back to fuel pump?

Try swapping out the fuel pump relay with one you know is good and try it for a while, if no more problems replace the bad relay.

Hard starting in a CPI injection engine is more or less always the regulator not keeping fuel pressure up.

Check your fuel pressure and do a CPI injection system check by removing the top IMTV valve under the vortec plate on the top of the engine and look down inside the engine with a flashlight and look for golden washed spots and the smell and pooling of fuel.

Don't disregard my advice, I think I know what I am talking about.

I understand where your comming from on the cpi injector, but this was a fuel pump relay problem. Somehow a terminal was fried on my plug. Maybe from the old dying pump.. I don't know. It is fixed and going great.

Glad to hear it's going again.

You should probably do a little checking to see why it was fried. It could have been as simple as a loose connection or it may be a bad wire somewhere.

Also, it is best to check the CPI injector for leaking anyways.

They all become defective. It is just a matter of time. Heading it off early will save your engine from a lot of damage caused by fuel getting into the oil.

I strongly suggest you check for leaking anyways.
