just wondering whats the craziest thing you guys have ever drifted...you know...hey mods..you should start a drift board too...on the main page along with all the makes of cars and stuff...that would be awesome...so all drifters can get other drifters input...for me...F250 4 door long bed...my Yamaha Grizzly ATV (just got done drifting it...made a vid of it..lol), my parents 94' Chevy Astro van...and my RC truck..lol

Doesn't really count as drifting, but there was this round ramp that connects 2 highways that are in an X, and I was going to the top highway in my dads Altima and the tires really suck and it was wet and as I'm coming out of the corner, I floor it (this was before the clutch was slipping) and the car went sideways...fucking scary...good thing I was alone, this was like 2am in the middle of no-where.

anyone ever go shopping and start slidding shopping carts around corners...im guilt of that :loser:
logik23
02-08-2005, 04:44 PM
Actually, I do that everytime I'm at work, I load up a cart full of stuff to put on the shelves and I start sliding it around...my boss keeps telling to stop and I tell him to fuck himself (in a more polite manner) since he's not actually my boss, he's just some guy who's been workign there for 8 years and is still making 50cents more then minimum wage...

the only drifting i've done was with my clipse in a gravel parking lot, lots of e-brake pullin. i've tried to "drift" shopping carts, but they either make that loud ass screeching noise, or the damn thing almost tips over. however, i do drift a mean ass game on nfsu2, lol. so yea, not much drift fun for me :disappoin

hmmmm....i dont call any of this drifting sorry. Just doing some donuts and shit in a parking lot.... Drifting to me is on an actual coarse that has a one way direction. Or on the roads. Other than that its just having fun in a lot. Sure you can practice in a big open lot, like actually trying to do some techniques....but other than that if your just getting it sideways and going crazy, i would consider that "fun times" not drifting.

well i was actually being pretty serious about my dirt drifting, it was more than just sliding around, i was practicing alot of J turns and control e-brake slides. still yearning for rwd tho, bleh

i only slide out my car in the rain because i don't have the money to buy new tires...
i usually do it late at night on wide corners where i can see the opposing roads (w/o the presence of cars of course lolz...)
i won't call myself a drifter... but i do experiment a lot. You guys should try it on snow... i can pull off perfect e-brake U-turns with full countersteer.. haha GOOD FUN!!

i was jokin, but I actually heard people drift on motorcycles. It beats me how they do it, or how they have utter disregard for safety

i've heard its only possible in wet or slippery conditions. Plus, it's not that new... old bike gangs in japan used to do it. it's basically the same concept as 4w drifting, yet instead using another set of wheels to counteract the momentum to the side they use weight transfer in the opposite direction (leaning the bike in the other direction). Also they need crazy accuracy in countersteering and throttle control. It must also be done at a relatively faster speeds. Obviously, it's not as easy nor flashy like 4w drifts but it's possible.
i think it's called Super Motard in europe or something... it's really big over there... Motard supposedly means "motor bike" in one of their languages...
this isn't a crotchrocket.. it's a dirtbike on tarmac.. but, it's countersteering... go figure.

or better check this video...
http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/s/d/sdt128/misc/supermotard.wmv
decide for yourself if it's 'drifting' (i don't know how long this link will be active... i'm using my school account and it's not a small file... hence, it could get removed... haha i doubt it though... enjoy~

cool video, but it looks like they just slide the entrances and exits to corners.
as far as drifting goes, i just watched those videos from the post called drifting proof, and if thats considered drifting, then thats what my friends and i do all the time, except we do it wet, cause we all have ka's right now, and making tire noise draws lots of attention to yourself. most of the spots we hit up are near resedential areas, so you have to be quiet. and i didnt even see that guy in the vid use his ebrake one time. we practice ebrake, shift lock, and do figure 8's, street turns, and not just doughnuts. i had some fun in the stakebed truck where i worked two years ago. it was a 1ton with a normal F250 cab, and a flatbed that is 12 foot wide and 15 foot long and four rear tires, i did a donut in the company parking lot when it was snowed over, it was comedy.
i hope to enter the more local drift events when i get my motor this spring, and really be able to have some fun.

drifting can be defined in many different ways. The basics that we see often is show drift... and then there is the speed drift. That's when drift angles are held back, drift corners are limited, minumum countersteer, and very little deceleration when entering a corner. This type of drift is used to actually exit a corner faster to shorten lap times... not for the excitement, glamor, etc...
That's probably why you see them sliding at the entrance and gripping at the exits... higher entrance speed and higher exit speed...
Of course in the Western culture...drifting is all about the show drift... (haha.. as in pretty much anything they do..)

yea the vids kinda suck when i come to techinical drifting...but we can do some techinical stuff...no e brake drifting becuase it takes alittle more speed than you can gain in that small parking lot...i'll try to get some feint drifting in if i can...like i said...maybe going 30mph...which in a parking lot is pretty quick...those behind those islands isnt alot of room so you have to be pretty damn precise...anywho...i'll try to get some techinical shit in the vid...if the snow melts :(
NiSmO_zt
02-09-2005, 07:39 PM
cool, i hear the speed thing too. when we do it, we go at most 20 mph, becuase its usually wet, the drifting gets slower when you lose grip, so you can do ebrake drifts at about 20mph

I would ebrake drift but my ebrake is shot...so...probably wont see a whole lot of that...just some heel toe'ing..

yeah i saw that vid, that guy had skill!
SHIFT_KA24DE
02-10-2005, 11:57 PM
it was mostly power-over ... and it's easier because the hauler was built for heavy loads in the back but w/o it... it's extremely easy to lose grip ( i don't think it was tarmac either... i forgot since i saw it so long time ago)
