2.8l vs. 1.8l

which engine is better for tuning and getting better numbers out of? common sense would lead me to believe the 2.8l but i dont know vw and whats available for them.

well, the 1.8l turbo responds very well to mods, if you are really looking to tune a car, go with the 1.8l, really with any amont of money, any car can be made faster than any other car [ sorry if that was confuseing ]. if you have a lot of money, the 2.8l is better, but if you are on a smaller budget, youll be better off with the 1.8l turbo

Exactly what he said. All you need is a chip from Neuspeed, GIAC, Revo, or one of the others, and a 1.8t will be getting better times. However if you could afford to turbo or SC the 2.8l, it should get more power then the 1.8t could dream of.

What about a 2.0L 16V? you can turbo it, or super charge it. look at www.BahnBrenner.com, they have a nice screw charger for the engines. you will out run the 1.8T, and hold with some VR6's. but displacement will win. I am not a fan of lag, so the supercharger is great. they have a stock 1.8L 16V in a "rocco" pulling 11's in the 1/4 mile. also have a Corrado with about 411 whp in it with one of their chargers. The torque with their charger is truly amazing. I will eventually have that in mine when I have enough cash.

Look on the website. and go to media. you will clips of their cars there. plus the supercharger is more reliable.

you can look on www.vwvortex.com, go to search option and look up Bahn Brenner, you will see the arguements there for Turbo VS Supercharger. I choose the Lysholom Supercharger...

thanks! i am having a hard time finding a good mark II for sale. i have done a ton more research and i have to agree that the mk 3s and 4s are too heavy.
