I'm pretty proud of myself on this one, so I thought I would post.

I was looking for a lower front fascia insert, to protect the condensor and radiator (still can't believe Honda/Acura left that gaping hole down there!!) and the lowest price I have heard was $139 from the "discount" store. So I went to ACE, the helpful hardware place, and bought a roll of black plastic mesh gutter guard for $3.69. I just need to make a template and cut the plastic to fit. Looks like I can weave it between the existing things down there to keep it in place. And it's plastic - I don't understand why these custom grills are made out of aluminum - it can chip and dent.

You can get some Ok grilles on ebay with gaskets to protect the paint, but yeah- the really good quality grilles are expensive. My radiator is getting toasted, so I'll need to do something soon as well. I'm not a fan of the upper grille, but I like the 3 piece lower section.

Hey, thanks for the idea!! When you said gaskets to protect the paint, I thought I could use some sort of adhesive-backed foam to secure and protect!!

I got a 3 piece grillcraft grill, I like the looks of it:)

Although a gutterguard grill does the same purpose for cheaper.

Yeah, and I'm trying to avoid that "race car" look of the shiny aluminum.....I just prefer the blacked out, low-key look. Now if the weather here would cooperate, I could try this stuff out. Am toying with the idea of a red pin (or slightly wider) stripe along the lower character line of the body sides. Kinda difficult on these cars, since the character line peters out at the front fender. Guess I could stop it just behind the wheel opening.......I'll use tape to experiment.

Canuck, which pattern Grillcraft did you get, the diamond or the race version? I was thinking about the 3-piece black race-style. What do you guys think, black or silver on the DSM?

I think you're thinking of Grille-Tech; Grillcraft only comes in one style. And I got black.

For you I think black'd look best. Silver stands out a bit too much.
