RE: our discussion on SiR fuel capacity in the JDM section, are you sure your SiR's fuel tank is 45 liters? I had the fuel light come up today after 530km and could only pump 37.5 liters in the tank.

Just wondering as I doubt I could have got much more out of the tank - the guage was right on the empty too.

Mine is supposedly a 45 litre tank

I have a fuel light but have never had it come on. Ive had it almost empty on the gauge and it only took 35l

SiRedges is the same if I remember right, maybe hondas hold 10l in reserve?

10l sounds excessive for a reserve though. I'm not game to run it dry to find out either :p

One day im gonna find out, having an extra 10 litres I could use would increase my range on a trip by 100k, which would be useful.

Pretty easy just carry a container of fuel and deliberately run out.

Unfortunately itll probably suck all the shit out of the tank into the injectors...doh:(

Yeah Honda states 45l for all EF's and EG's I think, but keep in mind, the pipe from the filler hole to the tank can probably hold a few liters, also if you let it settle for a few moments you can get more in there.

I had this happen once in my CRX, and at the worst possible time, (only the SIR CRX came with a fuel light), my guage was reading just above red, then going up a hill it all went quiet, (not a good feeling).
So I got 680k's out of the tank, not too bad.

Keep in mind there, the fuel pick up is not at the bottom of the tank, there will always be a few litres floating around below it where all the crap is, your car has 2 fliters (I think) so the chances of clogging your injectors aren't that great.
Couple of things to note, my car took ages to re-start, but the injected models have a pump in the tank so you should be ok, also the fuel is a lubricant for both of the pumps, not really advisable to run a fuel pump dry.

Well I know Iv gotten over 42L into my car.
But the guage shows empty when it only needs about 37-38L to fill, and thats on average after about 420kms of my driving.

Long distance Iv got 500+ out of 38L

heh... I think I'll stick to the orange light - damn the thing seems bright when you are miles away from the nearest 98 Octane servo

That's right setanta....the fuel lights come up early even though you have quite a bit in reserve. Mine starts flashing at me when there is atleast 10 - 12 litres left.

My sister had a strange ocurrance in her car the other day. Tried to start it....sort of started then stopped. Got me to get her some petrol incase. Put 4.5 litres in....car started...then she went out to the servo and poured 35 litres only.....It was like??? supposed to be 45 litre tank,

but then maybe her fuel got dirty from tank of regular unleaded when we headed north.

My yellow light annoys me, cause it makes me stress, and I get there and pour like 10 litres, and I'm like WTF?
