More comp and less knock, cooler pistons 2

If you had a sliderengine cranking arrangement you could run higher compression ratios and because the sliderengine piston is not cooled in a hit and miss manner as is the case with the conventional piston, which flaps from one side of the cylinder to the other, a source of detonation is removed from the equation.
The piston of the sliderengine.com does not contact the bore rather it is guided by rails and the heat which is not dissipated via the rings into the cylinder wall is conducted out of the piston body via the linear bearing at the piston base.

Interesting, but that setup looks extremely heavy and therefore might negate an awful lot of its benefits, such as increased power, fuel economy, and revving capability. It certainly won't be cheaper to produce than your standard engine setup, I don't know where that came from.
