does a bad gasket make you loose power while driving . i just cleaned out everything and changed the oil and its just slow. also would that make it idel higher. 87 wag 4.0 :screwy:

I can't think of any way that the valve cover gasket would affect operation in that way.
What did you "clean out"?

Idle can be affected by the vacuum leaks and a posibility is the PCV valve.

Any small vacuum line could cause an increase in idle speed if left off and open, depending on what the fuel mixture is normally.

Make sure that all vacuum lines and wires are connected where they are supposed to be.

The prefered fix in this case is to jack up the rad cap and drive a new hemi jeep under it!!!!!:biggrin::smokin:

i cleand the throttel body all my vac lines. i just thought that if there is a bad valve cover gasket that maybe it would decrease power. im trying to stay away from the stealership.i still need help on my front end switch if u have any input since ur the only one that helps me. :banghead:

What in your T/B did you clean out( disassembled or just sprayed cleaner down the throat) What do you mean by "cleaning the vac lines? Like JD said, if there is event he smallest leak it will effect your idle, abig enough one will effect your performance. What was happening that spurred you to "clean everything"?
What is wrong with your front axle switch? If it won't engage the front axle then first look at your switch located at the back DS of your T-case, it may be stuck. Then double check all your vac lines, make sure their in good shape, and that there is vac. to the switch. If all this is good then you'll have to remove the vac. motor off the axle and check it. Make sure the diaphram is pulling the actuating fork, and also look at your coupler in the axle, good shape? Then all thats left is making sure that your fork on the vac motor engages the couple in the axle when you reassemble. Good luck, hope this helps.

i didnt say any thing about my 4wd . i just checked all my hoses to make sure they were clean it just dont have all the power it should.

I getcha now!! You meant the front grill and fenders etc. that you are changing over and you mentioned in another thread OK - are you doing ok with the change over???

yeah it looks real good . b.c my whole jeep wuz rhino lined and i got tired of it and all of the old panels.it makes it look so much better with the regular cherokee headlights instead of the waggy lights. do you know where to unplug the back hatch so i could put my new one on thanks alot :smokin:

usually the wires all go thru the area over the left wheel well. Remove the trim panels in the left rear and find the connectors.
