switching teams

For about 3 years now i've been driving domestic cars..mainly, for the last 2 years i have had a saturn. its lasted me this long and never had any problems with it until now... therefore when i started realizing the american cars(the cheaper ones anyway) start dying down at around 160km...i went and saw my uncle(used car manager at a honda dealership) says he can prolly get me a straight trade..my 97 saturn for a 96 honda civic dx.. now i believe that the dx is a more economical car but what atracts me to a honda is that with little effort how a 1.5 L can be swapped for a b16 or a b18 perhaps...i will more than likely take this offer my question to the honda/acura enthisists is what is all the differences between all the b seris engines? ive been told that the b17 is rare and only comes from a 92-93 acura integra gs.. can someone give me a list of potential engines for this car with preferably the power they make and which ones are vtec and which arent? thanks
